We were just saying how lucky we are to be staying at the Harbour View apartments. We were sat there on the balcony at 4.30am this morning watching the sunrise and of course watching the comings and goings of the Levante ferry. The sunrise was beautiful and we have been reliably informed that tonight its a full moon, but not just any full moon, this is going to be a strawberry moon, a rare phenomenon and as the skies are clear we’re hoping to see it in all its glory.

We had breakfast on the balcony and then at 8.15am we made our way across the road to the Remetzo cafe bar for our early morning frappe. Today we decided to take our frappes through the ‘cave’ and sit outside on the veranda overlooking ‘Rock’. It is such an amazing view and what with the vivid sky blue backdrop it is so totally good for the soul. We spent the next hour enjoying our frappes, enjoying the view and from where Maice was sat, she also had a birds eye view of a group of elderly Greek men who were ‘hanging out’ together, literally as they were skinny dipping,  totally starkers and facing in Maices direction. Yes indeed, she saw everything. After the excitement of seeing naked bodies we took ourselves off to the beach, stopping off at the bakery where we purchased two spinach pies.

Once again we were the only two on the sun-beds when we arrived, mind you we were early and thankfully no-one deposited themselves next to us this time.  We were thankful that it wasn’t as intensely hot today and there was an ever so slight ripple of a breeze. What we really want are clouds, not many, just enough to hide the sun for 5-10 mins so we can cool down but it was a totally cloudless sky. Maybe tomorrow!

Once upon a time, up until last year that is, for lunch we used to come off the beach and order a Greek salad and a Mythos beer, which was delicious and very refreshing. However, now that the temperatures are so high and we are perspiring more we are now ordering a large bottle of water and a can of Coke-Cola which according to Maice, who was told this by a Doctor, Coke-Cola is the best thing to drink to replenish the salt and other nutrients in hot weather. Hence we have now given Mythos a wide berth in favour of Coke-Cola! We think it works as walking back from the beach it was not as exhausting as it was the day before which seems to imply that a) the Coke-Cola is working and b) we have acclimatised.

Breaking New:

We consulted Google to confirm the facts about Coke-Cola only to learn that it does not help hydrate you, in other words its back to the Mythos!

Deliberating on where to go for supper we decided on quarter 2, the rectangular square and found a lovely taverna called Totolino where the motto of the taverna is ‘never trust a skinny chef’! We enjoyed a delicious meze of various starters, the piece de resistence was grilled octopus, which was coated in a lemony drizzle and was so tender it was absolutely delicious. Of course we never learn do we, we over ordered and were totally stuffed. We walked home the long way in order to a) get more steps in and b) walk off our supper although when we got back to the apartment we still felt stuffed.

We sat on the balcony and watched the last ferry come and go, played 5 dice and rummy and headed off to our beds in the hope that tomorrow would be a lot cooler and fresher.  We can all but hope!

Καληνύχτα…..Α&Μ χχ
