It’s our penultimate day here in Kelowna and nothing has changed. We did our final yoga, went for a walk, had our last cappuccino at the Bean Scene cafe, purchased some provisions for the plane and went home. However, we did forgo breakfast as Ruth, Myrna’s neighbour had invited us all out to Frind Winery over in West Kelowna for lunch. Apparently this winery is one of the only ones in North America that is located on the beach. We were meeting Ruth at 12.30pm out front and she was there, sat in her car waiting to transport us over the bridge to West Kelowna. We were actually quite surprised at how fast she drove, setting off at a great pace, taking the corners like Lewis Hamilton and before we knew it we had arrived! We’ve never been here before and we were quite surprised at how many wineries there were in this particular area. Just before the winery there is a sort of headland peninsula, a bit like Sandbanks in Dorset although on a smaller scale where there seem to be some very large expensive houses located on it.

It’s a Thursday and it was busy so we couldn’t get a table straight away however during the hour we had to wait for one to become available we enjoyed a drink out in the picnic area, take away wine under the canopy of the umbrella as it was such a hot day. When we eventually got our table in the outside dining area we had a lovely lunch of Mediterranean salad and pizza, both extremely delicious. Admittedly we did have to wait at least half an hour or more for our pizzas, this being due to a mix up with the orders. Chelsea, our waitress for the day couldn’t apologise enough and said that the two pizzas we’d ordered were now ‘on the house’ so that was good for Ruth who told us when we’d first got into the car that she was treating all three of us to lunch which was very nice of her.

Back home we immediately went back out again to the tyre garage as one of Myrna’s tyres appeared to be looking flat. On inspection by the very lovely guy he agreed that it was fairly flat but with no puncture that he could glean and advised her to keep an eye on it. All pumped up we went round to ‘Frankie We Salute You’ where the big mural of the multicoloured horses is painted on the wall telling Myrna that we wanted to take some last minutes photos of it. It was all a ruse of course, what we wanted to do was to secretly purchase a gift voucher for Myrna and Ruth to use the next time they go out for their monthly Thursday lunch…..Myrna, your quest if you choose to accept it is somewhere for you to find!!

Back home we set about packing which took a bit longer as we had to try and fit everything we’d bought over the past two weeks into our cases. We finally managed it, took ourselves up to the lounge and participated in our final alcoholic beverage. We watched a bit of TV and before we knew it both Myrna and Maice were dozing, a sure sign it was time for bed.

So our last full day here in Kelowna has come to an end. Our first flight home departs at 11.15am so on that note it’s goodnight from us M&A xx
