It always amazes us how loud cats can be, not vocally but when they move around. Myrna has two cats, two sisters, Jenny, who’s black and white and Josephine, who’s grey. Honestly, the noise they make when they go charging around the house they sound like a herd of elephants, well to us it does down here in the basement. Let’s face it, who needs an alarm clock when these two are around!

So this morning we were woken by the pair of them thundering around the floor above, who knows what they were up to, they were obviously up to no good what with all the the banging and crashing that was going on, then all of a sudden, silence!

This morning we chose a yoga practice good for stretching as we were both feeling quite stiff this morning and after we’d loosened up our muscles we felt ready for our walk to the Landmark district for a browse around the local market but not before we’d had our cappuccino’s. We took our coffee this morning at Bread Co. where we also purchased 2 x energy balls, unfortunately we were not so keen on these as they were far too sweet and as the day progressed we didn’t feel they provided much energy either!

Maice purchased some earrings at the market and we walked over the overpass to get to the park on the other side where we did a circuit, came back over the overpass and on our walk home came across an amazing 2nd hand bookstore. It was a fairly large store full to the rafters with thousands of books. Maice was looking to buy Captain Corelli’s Mandolin which she’d been searching for at home without success so she was delighted when the store assistant miracled it up from the store room out back.

Happy with our purchases we walked back home, enjoyed our breakfast, did some washing and then ventured forth in our flip-flops in the 27 degree heat to go sunglasses shopping at the Orchard Mall for Maice, then we were going to hit the consignment shops. It was all there in black and white on the schedule of things to do today. Well, omg, the walk down to the Mall was extremely hot, the breeze was hot and there was no respite although what we should have done was walk on the other side of the road where there was at least a bit of shade, but no we walked on under the searing sun, looking forward to the air conditioning of the Mall. After all that, Maice didn’t purchase any sunglasses but we did take photos of her in three pairs that she likes which she has now added to her ‘maybe’ list! Maybe we’ll return there in the car rather than on foot, because let’s face it, hardly any people here would even consider walking to the Mall! At least I bought a swimming costume, you know for our sea dipping, so our journey on foot wasn’t all in vane!

Maice was really struggling with her plantar fasciitis and after a quick regroup and giving ourselves a severe talking to about walking in the wrong footwear we decided we were all shopped out and much too tired to take on the consignment shops so we headed to the Red Robin for cocktails, and very nice and refreshing they were too. It helped aid the long walk back home in the heat, which hadn’t got any cooler even though it was later in the day. We walked back in silence, on the shady side of the road, a sure sign that we were exhausted, each of us wrapped up in consoling ourselves with our own ailments. What we really needed was a swim but would we be able to muster up the energy once home to walk back out again down to the lake? The answer was yes and we’re so glad we did as it was so refreshing and just what was needed.

Back home we had a lovely supper of salmon, rice and salad washed down with an alcoholic beverage and retired to the lounge at 9pm, Maice claiming the sofa so she could stretch out her plantar fasciitis affected foot. She was told under no circumstances that she was to fall asleep until 10pm when she would then be free to go down stairs to bed. Myrna and I stayed up until 11pm and then retired to our beds. It had been a long day but as per today’s musing….’Shit happens, just kick some dirt on it and move along’!

On that note, night all….
