As part of the Canadian Country Music Awards Festival and what with today being the day it officially opens, the organisers were offering free pancakes for breakfast, so naturally we were going to take up the offer. However, before that and back to routine, we were awake early, did our yoga and set out for our walk to Downtown Kelowna where it was all a’ happening…yee ha! By 8.15 am we were sat at a table in the middle of the street with our two pancakes and maple syrup listening to country music under blue skies and with a lovely warm air temperature. What a great way to start the day. Of course we then had to think about where to have coffee and ended up at the Sprout Cafe and Bakery where we’ve been before and we enjoyed a very nice cappuccino.

We headed off down to the Waterside, purchased a few very nice tops believe it or not from the Kelowna Information Centre and made our way back home through the Kelowna City Park and along the town beach traversing over the overpass and under the underpass to get to the other side of the bridge, not the other side of the bridge as in across the lake side of the bridge but the other side of the bridge on the same side that we were on! The houses along the waterfront on this side are all rather large and all so different in their shape and designs; how nice it must be to wake up to those amazing views every morning.
Back home we caught up on our admin, Maice did some needlework by shortening Myrna’s new trousers and we set off once again to buy some groceries for Myrna down at The Mission where there also happened to be shops….shoe shops, clothes shops, jewellery shops you know, just in case we fancy a bit of retail therapy! Maice was more constrained than I was although she now has a ‘maybe’ list whereas my purse seemed to empty rather rapidly. But I’ve been there before, seen it, liked it, thought about it, went back for it and it was sold! So I made a number of impulse purchases namely a nice little necklace from the jewellery range of non other than Pru Leith, she of The Great British Bake Off programme.

By this time we were getting tired and what with Maice’s plantar fasciitis playing up a trip to a local bar for a sit down and a nice glass of something alcoholic was what was required in order to propel us home. After a nice cold glass of Sangria I walked and Maice hobbled home with just enough time to get ready and head back out for dinner with the family at Kasai Teppanyaki Steak & Sushi House. What a great place this was, a Japanese restaurant where they carry on the ancient art of teppanyaki, hibachi style cooking all performed by Walter, from Mexico City! Walter was a brilliant host/chef who dazzled us with his cutlery skills and warm sense of humour. Fabulous food, great entertainment and a what a wonderful night out we had.

Back home we retired to the sofas, Maice lasted, oh, at least ten minutes and I lasted 45 minutes, so I think we’re gradually getting over the jet-lag, although to be honest the alcohol consumption probably doesn’t help!
On that note, here’s another musing from M&A……’It’s September, time to pick a Halloween costume, plan Thanksgiving and go shopping for Christmas…Happy New Year’ (as seen on an a board outside someone’s house)!
M&A xx

Sounds like you had a great day and good you are getting in some retail therapy!
