Due to the fact that I didn’t have the greatest night, I was tossing and turning a lot and didn’t feel 100% when I woke up so declared to both Maice and Myrna that I would be having an alcohol free day today , you know, just because.
We managed our early morning yoga session after which we set off for our early morning walk, once again walking in the sunshine under a beautiful blue sky. We didn’t quite know where to walk today so after a short debate we opted for the Guisachan Heritage Park ‘The place of the Fir’ which is more or less round the corner from where Myrna lives. It’s a lovely little heritage park, quite small but full of lovely flowers and lots of Fir trees. There’s also a small population of black squirrels that live here and last time we came two years ago we were lucky enough to see one, which was most fortunate as they’re quite elusive. Well, can you believe this….as soon as we walked into the park we heard this rustle high up in the Fir trees and as we looked up we saw not one but two black squirrels playing and running amok in amongst the branches. Unfortunately our phone camera’s don’t do close up’s but we were well chuffed to have seen them.
From here we walked along to the KLO and Pandosy area again like we did the day before and then the only coffee shop we hadn’t been to around this area just happened to be our favourite place, the Bean Scene cafe. There’s a reason we love this cafe and that’s because a) their coffee beans are lovely and smooth b) they spend a long time on the presentation and c) it’s situated on the sunny side of the street. We sat for ages savouring our coffee, sitting in the sun and watching the world go by until we thought we’d best head back home albeit we went in a different direction and found ourselves hugging trees on the beach. You can’t beat a good hug with a tree…..it’s really good for your aura, apparently!
We forwent breakfast today as we were meeting up with Kerris and Katana and Carole, Myrna’s sister and Maice’s aunt at the White Spot restaurant for lunch. We both decided on eating traditional Canadian food so ordered Poutine, chips topped with cheese curds and gravy which is absolutely delicious, a ceasar salad to share and a ceasar drink, Canada’s version of a Bloody Mary made with vodka, spices, and clam tomato juice which is the perfect accompaniment to the poutine. Admittedly I was having an alcohol free day but how could I when we were ‘doing traditional’! We had a thoroughly enjoyable brunch enjoyed by all after which we said our goodbyes to Kerris and Katana. Myrna, Carole, Maice and I popped into Costco to do a spot of shopping. Myrna was looking for a new iPad and reading glasses and we were just looking for nothing in particular, you know, just having a mooch around in the biggest Costco store in Canada, no kidding! We all purchased something on our visit today….Myrna came away with her IPad and ordered her new glasses, two pairs which look amazing on her. Carole left with about a thousand toilet rolls, okay that’s a slight exaggeration but there were so many in a ‘pack’ she was wondering where she was going to store them all as they’ll probably last a few years!! And we purchased three long sleeved tops, all the same but different in colour and size, two for me, one for Maice. So, visit to Costco complete, we said our goodbyes to aunt Carole and headed home.
We set about setting up Myrna’s iPad once we were home and made sure all our iPads and iPhones were stored in another room. The last thing we wanted was for our data to be transferred onto Myrna’s new iPad during the set up process because they were too close. Following the very simple instructions, within half an hour or so Myrna’s iPad was up and running, her old one being cast aside and regelated to the back of the cupboard.
Supper was the same as we had the day before, corn cob with lots of oozing butter and the last of the cucumber salad, washed down with a few glasses of wine and Prosecco. Seems the Dory mug was right after all…….I seem to have a very bad memory lapse here in Kelowna!
After supper we were determined to crack the Dutch Blitz card game and had to resort to good old YouTube to take us through it. Having followed two videos simultaneously whilst playing the game, we finally cracked it. OMG it is such an exciting game, it’s so fast you and you have to keep focused all the time which is not possible as your eyes are scanning the playing area the whole time. It’s a really fun game which we are totally in awe of. You must definitely go out and purchase it now!
The moon looked quite spectacular this evening, it was so large and bright and hung like a lantern in the sky. Its obviously preparing itself for its big ‘supermoon’ appearance tomorrow evening which we’re very excited about and look forward to seeing it at Tara and Dave’s tomorrow evening. We’ve been invited there for supper so hopefully we’ll see it from their place in all its glory.
On that note……..have a lovely evening
