It’s 09.30am and we’ve risen admirably to Tara’s challenge for we are now sitting in the Bread and co. cafe enjoying a cappuccino having perambulated around the neighbourhood on our very early morning walk. We can quite honestly attest to the fact that neither of us have had coffee here before so it’s a high five to us for being so disciplined and not even attempting to go to our favourite place, the Bean Scene cafe.
Yesterday had been such a long travel day that we were looking forward to a nice lie in but it wasn’t to be. For some reason, whether it was due to jet-lag or not, we’d both woken at 5am and then couldn’t get back to sleep. What to do then? Do we a) try and force ourselves back to sleep or b) get up and perform Day 11 of Yoga with Adrienne? There was nothing for it, we got up, pulled on our exercise outfits and after a couple of downward facing dog manoeuvres, some stretching and some balancing poses we were ready for what the day had in store for us.
We didn’t really have a plan for today, which is good because nothing can go wrong although we did plan to a) walk to the local Wednesday weekly market and b) get in our 10,000 steps. Before we set off we deliberated about taking an umbrella…..shall we or shan’t we? We checked the weather app which said grey skies and a 50% chance of rain although when we looked outside there was a light grey cloud covering but it didn’t look like it was going to rain. We were in a bit of a conundrum and deliberated on the chances of it raining. To take an umbrella or not to take an umbrella, that was the important question we were facing. In the end we compromised by taking just one umbrella which we’d share should the need arise. We’d only been walking a matter of five minutes when we felt the first spots of rain. So the weather app had been correct. Thankfully it wasn’t heavy rain and of course we did have an umbrella!
We arrived at the market which was rather disappointing as there weren’t many stall holders present but not to be deterred we walked around all of them, chatting to them, tasting their products and finally made a purchase….a packet of onion bread for breakfast. The area the market was situated in was quite colourful, the walls of the buildings being decorated with huge brightly coloured ‘muriels’ and artwork which actually looked quite amazing. By now the rain was becoming more intense so we headed off in search of a cafe which is where we came across Bread and Co and where we enjoyed our first cappuccino of the holiday.
Back home we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast and chilled for a few hours before heading off to Orchard Park Mall as Maice had an appointment with the bank. Myrna and I wandered around the shops, all two of them and then we all headed back home. We cracked open a bottle of Prosecco at 5pm, then another one an hour later and then enjoyed a glass of salted caramel rum which we’d gifted to Myrna and which is quiet delicious, whilst we waited for our dinner to cook. On the menu tonight, salmon fillets and roasted vegetables prepared by Maice, a very healthy menu option and very tasty it was too.
We eventually retired to the lounge to watch the Pembrokeshire murders where after just five minutes in, jet lag finally took over and both Maice and I fell asleep on the sofa. Ah, what good company we are!
Today has been an uneventful day but tomorrow will be totally diffent and no doubt quite eventful as Tara, Maice’s sister is coming over…..just sayin!
However, before we head of to bed we’d like to introduce you to our very elusive house mates Josie (the grey one) and Jenny (the black and white one). They’re both quite skittish and keeping a distance from us at the moment but I’m sure we’ll win them over at some point over the next few weeks and we’ll become the best of friends. Talking about friends, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish our very dear friend Andrew a very happy 70th Birthday and as they say here in Canada……Happy Birthday!!
On that note, its good night from M&A and here’s hoping for a good nights sleep
Xx
