It was our penultimate day here in Kelowna and we didn’t have much planned at all other than the usual early morning yoga, a saunter around the neighbourhood to get our steps in and a family gathering at Myrna’s place to say goodbye to the pair of us. We were up an hour earlier than we were yesterday and ready for today’s Yoga challenge, and a challenge it was. Both of us declared it was quite a tough twenty minute session with lots of oohing and aahing being vocalised as we held our bodies in some very precarious positions! Hopefully our 10,000 step walk would help relax our muscles back to normality.
We were walking to Pandosy via Abbott Road but first I suggested we go find the ‘flying geese’ sculpture that I’d spotted from the car the other day which was close to the hospital. So we went in search of said sculpture but could we find it. It was most definitely near the hospital but we were in the car so maybe it was much further up the road. Never mind, we aborted our search and headed along Abbott Rd, a very expensive tree lined road with very big houses that overlook the lake. The lake itself was looking very beautiful, peaceful and calm……fancy waking up to that view every day and taking coffee on your balcony. Ah, one can only wish for such things.
After a lovely stroll down the avenue we wanted our last coffee to be a memorable one so headed to our favourite coffee shop, the Bean Scene cafe and it didn’t disappoint. We savoured every sip as we sat sunning ourselves outside, people watching and generally watching the world go by. Apparently, according to the weather forecast, temperature’s are rising this week and it was certainly hot as we sat sunning ourselves to the extent that we didn’t want to leave. But leave we must so we walked to the downtown Pandosy shopping complex for a mooch around, you know just in case we see something we like then we walked back past a shop I’d seen a dress in last week in the sale to see if it was still there. As I said to myself, it its still there it was meant to be mine and if it isn’t there I’d be upset and kick myself for not buying it when I saw it. But, it was meant to be as it was still sitting there on the hanger with my name on it….!
So another purchase made and honestly is there no end to our shopping? Hopefully that’s the end of it because we do have to make it all fit into our suitcases. We got home after our 11,900 steps, 4.3 mile walk and had our final breakfast which included our final vanilla yoghurt with hemp hearts sprinkled on the top. We’ll certainly be buying a packet of these when we get home. Before we started to pack Maice wanted to go check out a shop called Kolu, you know, to see if there was anything else she could purchase and before we knew it the three of us were browsing around the store. The assistant who was chatting about holidays to one of her regular customers ignored us when we went in and when I walked past her she looked me up and down and continued chatting. How rude! I was determined not to find anything I liked as I didn’t want to grace her with my credit card however Maice did find an item of clothing, a jumper with a hood, known in the industry as a ‘hoodie’ with a dog motif on the front. It’s lovely and I’m sure Winston will love it too.
After our shopping experience we stopped off at Starbucks for frappes, came home and packed, showered and washed our hair in readiness for tomorrow’s departure to the airport. Happy to report that at the moment everything we brought with us and everything we bought here in Kelowna fits in our cases, however not everything is packed yet….so tomorrow morning will be the test!
Tara, Dave, Katana, Kerris, Kyran and his girlfriend Anna came round for the evening, we ordered Pizza’s and a lovely evening was had by all. It was all rather sad when we said our goodbyes and they left but we’ll all hold special memories of our stay here and of course there are the photos. I do recall all of us running around Myrna’s kitchen table to do one of those ‘pano’ photo’s and I do recall doing it more than once, twice, even three times maybe. Who knows what they’ll turn out like?
On that note, we’ve got a plane to catch in the morning so it’s good night from M, good night from A and goodnight from Myrna…..xxx
